About

GARY ALLIETTA

Gary is the principal of the firm. He has twenty years of experience as a commercial banker and over 15 years experience owning, operating and advising small businesses. During his twenty years as a banker in Chicago, Atlanta, and Dallas, he worked with large and small businesses alike, and with wealthy families who established and ran successful businesses. As a manager in the wealth market at Harris Bank (a subsidiary of Bank of Montreal) in Chicago, he managed a loan portfolio of over $300 million while handling the financing needs of family-owned businesses. Many of these needs were tax-driven transactions, leading to a deeper understanding of the relationship between financing and tax matters, and the advantages of tax compliance. For three years he managed a Grand Rapids-based receivables management company which he bought with several other investors. During his tenure, he reduced operating expenses, raised collection efficiency, and sold the business in 2000. Thereafter he has acted as CFO for a Grand Rapids-based mortgage origination company and advised small businesses on financial and tax matters.

Gary received a BA degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1974 and an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Management from the Ohio State University in 1976. Prior to his banking career, he worked as an accountant for a major retail chain. He also attended DePaulUniversity and Georgia State University to study tax and accounting. In addition to teaching Finance while at Ohio State, he has taught at Davenport University and for the American Bankers Association.
