West Michigan Financial (WMF) provides financial, tax and accounting support to small and medium-sized businesses in West Michigan. WMF was founded with the idea that every business, large or small, should have a CFO to handle affairs such as tax and tax planning, accounting systems and operations, and back-office functions, as well as due diligence and planning for the sale of the business or the acquisitions of other businesses.

WMF focuses on these four functions:

  • Back office support such as payroll, bookkeeping, payroll tax filings, benefits planning, cash management, and reporting
  • Tax planning and preparation, including filing and follow-up for federal, state and local taxes, as well as specialty tax situations such as sales tax, out of state issues, and remediation
  • Sale or acquisition of the business, as a representative of either the buyer or seller depending on the client situation. This includes due diligence, document preparation and review, closing and escrow, advice on valuation, structure, tax implications and post-closing issues, but does not include brokerage.
  • Capital brokerage to assist those persons with cash to invest in private debt or equity situations, and those businesses looking to raise capital for growth, asset acquisition, mergers, and refinancings. With access to a variety of lenders around the country, WMF can facilitate borrowings for reasonable needs and specialty situations.
